Hello Surrey networkers!

I've just received an email from Business Link with a link to a page on their website giving an overview of Social Media for business in the Q&A format...

1. Do you want to know what your customers are saying about you online?

Have a go at Solar!

Summer is the best time to think about solar water heating!

Solar water heating harnesses free power from the sun and can provide around one third of the hot water requirements for an average family home. Whilst they work best on warm sunny days, modern solar systems will heat up water all year around, even on cloudy, overcast days in winter. Solar water heating is perhaps one of the most affordable active…

Networking in Surrey News – week beginning 8 August 2011

This is supposed to be the silly season! You know the routine – no real news as such, politicians on holiday, headlines about escaping pigs, celebrity divorces, and Branson up in a balloon somewhere. Instead, we have riots and looting on the streets of London, America heading for Skid Row, and famine in the Horn of Africa. The world’s all over the place, and listening to the news is a sobering…

Before you build your website...

Before you even start thinking about domain names, hosting and website design you need to think about your online marketing strategy. It’s rather like thinking about the foundations before you pick out the curtains.

Before you pick up the phone and call a web design team have a think about the following points because your web designer will be asking you for the answers. Of course, if they…

The Advantages of Corporate Sponsorhip in the Community

Many organisations understand the importance of giving back to the communities in which they operate. These organisations, both large and small, recognize their responsibility to support their communities and those living within them.

Corporate sponsorships can be substantial for large organisations but can also be very significant for a smaller business. Giving is relative and the small…

Borrowers warned against capped rate mortgage products

Borrowers currently opting for a capped rate mortgage have been warned they might never reach the cap.

With borrowers increasingly nervous about when rates might start to rise, demand for the mortgages, which have a ceiling that the mortgage rate will not increase above, has increased three-fold since November 2009, according to a recent report.…

November rate rise being predicted

The Sunday Telegraph reported on the 17th that interest rates will start to rise in November.

Rates will rise in anticipation of falling inflation in the new year and an increasingly strong recovery, according to predictions from the Ernst & Young ITEM Club.

Although major risks remain, Peter Spencer, ITEM's chief economic…

People with an offset mortgage are £1.4 Billion better off than savers

Borrowers with an offset mortgage who link their savings to their loan have earned £1.4 billion more than those who simply put the cash into a savings account, according to new research.

Around 460,000 people in the UK have an offset mortgage, and over the past two years it’s estimated they ‘earned’ £1.9 billion in interest savings. Putting those savings into a best buy savings account would have earned £534…

Networking in Surrey News – week beginning 11 July 2011

It seems ages since the last of these NiS newsmails back in June - although I did send a couple of Bulletins in the meantime. The first was about advertising on the site – thank you everybody who wanted the last slot for July, soz for not being able to fit you all in... but there’s always August (although that’s filling up fast).

The other Bulletin was offering free…

Where can you find more business referrals in Facebook & Linked in?

Those of you who are already using Twitter may be aware of Mark Shaw (@MarkShaw) and his business ‘requests for recommendations’ profile (@msrfr)? The idea behind this profile is for users to request recommendations to a specific type of business and for the followers of @msrfr on Twitter to provide recommendations to relevant businesses. Here is an example of one such request

RT @harrison_design Can anyone recommend a…

It's all about cash flow!

‘Turnover is vanity, profit is sanity, but cash is reality’

I’m guessing that you’ve heard this phrase before – but what does it mean in the real world:

Well, I’ve seen too many businesses spending their time chasing low-margin orders, giving larger discounts, extending terms – all in the misguided belief that such activities would save their…

Bare feet to feel more sensual

My father use to nag me about doing some exercise or moving somehow, he was always on me about that, and I use to hate it. He said it was good for your wellbeing and health, and I thought it was boooooring. Now I know better, he was absolutely right, it is a must to exercise or move in some way to be and stay healthy, but mostly to feel good about yourself and life.

Through my work, helping women to get…
