The world of social media can be a strange and scary place, if you aren't used to it (it certainly was for me).
I have written an article containing links to articles/videos/infographics which I found very useful when trying to understand this mysterious new world and one that is so important for us to get to grips with to help our businesses grow.

The pre start-up phase could be the most important time of your business life.
You'd be surprised at the number of prospective businesses decide on the legal status of their venture, open bank accounts, rent premises BEFORE they have done the necessary research and determined whether their idea makes financial sense and importantly after the initial set-up, whether they have created a viable commercial proposition.…

I just posted a comment on Andy Lopata's LinkedIn pages that I thought I'd share here too. It's about getting the message out there about what you do without trying to shove it down people's throats :0) You first need to get the person (Client, networking contact, potential employer) into a receptive mindset and ready to learn more about your skills, products and services.
When I first meet you, I am probably far from receptive to a pitch, for example. If it's at a networking…

It is no secret that work is changing, since the advent of the internet and advances in portable technology, work is becoming more flexible, more portable and more nomadic.
This nomadic portable lifestyle of work is not just for the young and upwardly mobile of today, it is permeating into the fabric of society. The days of the worker being employed for a lifetime in the same job, rising from postman to CEO is no longer the case, with the nomadic lifestyle, work is becoming…

With millions behind on their household bills, UK bill payers need to consider how they would cope if they were to lose their income due to illness or injury.
Research released this month by price comparison site, uSwitch, found that 4 million households in the UK are in debt to their energy supplier, while a further 2.6 million are struggling to pay monthly bills.
We're hearing more and more about how people are living beyond their means, and spending more than they…

I just read an article by Roger Hamilton, the Wealth Dynamics Guy, who I worked with for a short while back in the day, which I think is worth sharing here. It's an interesting take on how people get really wealthy, and serendipitously I got the email about it at the same time as one from Nick James promoting Andrew Reynold's 'Copy This Idea' course.
I've followed all these and many more 'make pots of money' gurus over a number of years, and my take is that you can get some great tips…

Just posting a reply to a Discussion in the Business Scene LinkedIn Group and thought I'd share it here too...
It's often advised that as we shake hands with the right hand, we should wear our networking name badges on the right lapel rather than in the traditional 'buttonhole' position of the left lapel.
Guys can wear a tie so we have the option of having our badge smack dab in the middle in case we meet any former Boy Scouts (kind of an in joke - they are left-hand shakers!)…
