Accidents happen, no matter how careful you are. We deal with our customer enquiries on carpet spills almost on a daily basis, however we are not always there for them so instead we leave them an informative sheet that helps them deal with the emergency; and I am happy to pass this info on to you.
First of all, do not panic! If the spillage is a drink then get some absorbent kitchen towel and soak up as much of the liquid as possible, if the spillage is food then remove the food from the carpet carefully and then use absorbent kitchen towel to soak up as much of the remaining liquid and or sauce as possible.
Once you have got out as much as possible with the towel you can start working on the remaining residue. Many of our customers have an RPC carpet spotting kit which works very effectively.
If you do not have a spotting kit, we would suggest you add a small amount of washing up liquid to a cup of warm water and then use a white cotton cloth as follows. Allow some of the solution to soak into a part of the cloth and then apply the cloth to the spill working from the outside of the spill inwards. Always blot the spill do not rub the carpet as this can cause pile damage to the surface. This may take longer but the results will be much better. Continue this dabbing process until you reach the centre of the spill.

Should the spill still be evident then feel free to call us in to help, by following the recommendations above you will not have caused any more damage and you just might need our expertise to solve the problem.
