I was watching a video last night by “Brian Tracy talks about the Keys to Success” and it got me thinking about one of my boys. He is 11 years old and currently going for his grade 7 music exam which by any standard is amazing.
He has passed all his grades with Distinctions, again, amazing. So after listening to Brian Tracey, who, explains how being an expert and to just keep learning is one of the single most important things you can do as a business owner.
Taking my boy as an example, he practices every day, his passion for his art is unstoppable. He learns something new each day and now he is ready to move to his next school (he is taking a scholarship) I find that the very best schools are asking him to come to their school, I have now been approached by six schools. Just applying this to business and what Brian Tracy says make it all the more real for me, being an expert in your given subject or product is the single most important thing.
You attract the very thing you seek, customers!
Talking about your expertise, engaging customers, offering expert advice or superior product or just simply great customer service is one of the most important things for your business, you cannot be an expert in everything.
As you know small local businesses are our concern and we work hard to make sure that all local businesses create a loyal customer base. What you may not have realised is that most small businesses rely heavily on passing trade and do little or no local Marketing engagement.
So Why Am I Sharing This With You?
Well, the way I see it, if you do exactly the same thing as everyone else, then you will get the exact same results. Worse still if you do nothing you will get NO RESULTS.
What does this mean, well as a small business you rely on local trade or recommendations. Doing nothing is worse than not stocking your shelves or being rude to you customers, I am sure you take great pride in your business, however, not doing anything to maintain contact, interacting with your potential customer base on a daily or weekly basis is missing out on potential sales that otherwise you would not have.
Creating awareness around your brand or business in the vastness of the Internet stratosphere has to start somewhere… unfortunately, a lot of people don’t know where that “somewhere” is… and that can be very daunting. There are a million different roads to drive down, a million different approaches to take, and about a HUNDRED million opinions on what works best.
Is getting to number one on Google the most important? We think not, yes it is worth doing if you can afford to keep doing SEO the whole time and it still relies on people actually looking for your business.

We take a different approach to online / off line customer interaction, notice we say “Interaction” why, because we build local communities of people and we allow them to interact with each other whilst we interact with them.
We have several methods of doing this, contests, discounts, general information and good old fashioned direct marketing. But what we do most of all is capture their imagination and get interacting with them so we become their first place for local deals and information. Have a look at our Guildford BootSale FacebookPage only started 2 months ago.
We are building a local online community and will offer everything they want, interacting, engaging and finally compelling them to take action. We have kept this program low cost as we know money is tight for most businesses so we work towards giving the best ROI on marketing around.
If you would like to talk to us more about this or any other marketing initiative we are always happy to talk and share idea.
