What’s the big deal with LinkedIn this time?
Well, as we speak LinkedIn is undergoing another big makeover - remember how radically it changed when Microsoft bought it for $26 billion? (Now that was a big…

As a solo-preneur, I don't take a stand at Exhibitions and Expos, preferring to make an exhibition of myself as I wander round my captive audience of Exhibitors and engage in passing conversations with other Visitors. Being static on a stand would cramp my style - but I can see how they work well for other businesses, provided they do it right.…

One of my favourite networking tips is to always take your own name badge along to events...
If you have a badge, you are always prepared for meetings where the organiser either doesn't issue badges, or just hasn't got one for…

One of my favourite networking tips is to always take your own name badge along to events.
I have several versions of mine, depending on which of my businesses I am representing on the day! You can make a badge to print off on your inkjet and slip it into one of those plastic badge holders we get at events. I have some magnetic badges (as supplied by 4networking etc) which I put into the back of the plastic holder.
Here's one I made…

From 31 January 2015, Business Biscotti, the network that made free networking avaiable across many counties in the South East (and some beyond!) will become a paid membership organisation...
There will be serious fallout from this change and we predict that lots of Biscotti Groups will see a falling off in numbers attending - some…

This article by Paul Nathanson is a great little reminder of how easy it is to lose your reputation (and customers!) through PR blunders...

I just posted a comment on Andy Lopata's LinkedIn pages that I thought I'd share here too. It's about getting the message out there about what you do without trying to shove it down people's throats :0) You first need to get the person (Client, networking contact, potential employer) into a receptive mindset and ready to learn more about your skills, products and services.
When I first meet you, I am probably far from receptive to a pitch, for example. If it's at a networking…

I just read an article by Roger Hamilton, the Wealth Dynamics Guy, who I worked with for a short while back in the day, which I think is worth sharing here. It's an interesting take on how people get really wealthy, and serendipitously I got the email about it at the same time as one from Nick James promoting Andrew Reynold's 'Copy This Idea' course.
I've followed all these and many more 'make pots of money' gurus over a number of years, and my take is that you can get some great tips…

Just posting a reply to a Discussion in the Business Scene LinkedIn Group and thought I'd share it here too...
It's often advised that as we shake hands with the right hand, we should wear our networking name badges on the right lapel rather than in the traditional 'buttonhole' position of the left lapel.
Guys can wear a tie so we have the option of having our badge smack dab in the middle in case we meet any former Boy Scouts (kind of an in joke - they are left-hand shakers!)…
