Brrr! With conditions making you think twice about venturing out at all, the feeback is that networking events in general are unsurprisingly less well attended than they should be at this sociable time of year. It comes to something when the weather forecast becomes essential viewing across the nation - X-Factor, eat your heart out...our Christmas number one is Peter Cockroft at the London Weather Centre!
Still, if you're feeling brave, there are still some great events to enjoy, such as the Best of Richmond Christmas Party tomorrow evening, and Paul Sampson's hosting a 4Networking 'pub and curry' evening in Guildford on Thursday. With the way the holiday falls this year it's unlikely that much business will be done between Christmas and New Year. This will be a great opportunity to catch up on the paperwork and to follow up all those networking contacts you made in 2010. So, get out the shoebox full of business cards and start cherry-picking the ones you want to stay in touch with.
New Members are still joining us - we've reached 309 as of today - so it's a warm NiS welcome to Nigel Devenish, Gareth Bannister, Kapil kapur, David Morrell and Maria Kirkham - and Networking in Berkshire is up to 419 and counting. Next year promises to be massive for us, and we're already getting networking events posted for January, so keep checking the site and pencil some dates into your new 2011 diary (or tap them into Momento on the iPhone if that's your thing).
If you want to make an impact in 2011, remember you can advertise on Networking in Surrey and have your logo, message and link right there on every page to be viewed thousands of times by hundreds of unique visitors. We'll be reviewing our rates for February, but January's still only £50 for the whole month, and we have just two slots left.
Now, I wouldn't mind a little time off over Christmas myself, and I'd really prefer to get those two slots filled and sorted this week. So here's a seasonal offer: confirm to me by close of play Thursday, and you can take two months, January and February, for just £90. Naturally this has to be first come, first served, as usual... Call me on 01932 845814, message me here on the site or email keith@networkinginsurrey.co.uk right away.
Existing advertisers, you'd get two months from the end of your current ad, because you're so wonderful :0) - just look at you...

Diary of a Networker...
Well, I've been less active on the networking scene in the past week, thanks to shovelling snow, clearing out my garage ready for its demolition, and Christmas shopping (not my favourite pastimes). I have been socially (as opposed to 'social') networking, taking part in the pub quiz, hitting the jazz club with my pal and fellow copywriter Howard Nichols, attending the health club party at the Green Olive in Chobham (dancing and plate smashing like a good 'un - though they said I really should have waited until after the meal). I took part in a couple of webinars (one on using Ecademy), and did an interview with another copywriting chum Steve Bridger to be featured in his new book aimed at helping start-up businesses (watch this space).
Chris and I wish all NiS and NiB Members a fab Christmas, and a profitable Networking New Year!
