The Magical River Of Lights

The River Of Lights is a free, non-denominational, community event celebrating the magic of all the winter festivals by marking the Winter Solstice in Guildford. Visit the event website here...

The community are invited to bring floating lanterns, made of oranges and tea lights, to the River Wey (Millmead Island behind the Yvonee Arnaud Theatre) and place them on the river to create a beautiful and magical River Of Lights.

The site will be lit by lantern sculptures. A wasailling choir will serenade. A wishing tree will blossom with leaves on which are written the hopes and dreams of the community for the year ahead. And you can keep warm with a glass or two of mulled wine.

This event is funded purely by the generous support and donations of the business community of Surrey , and especially the independent and sole traders.

They donate just £20 each. There are no accolades or marketing opportunities. There is no charity benefit.

The River Of Lights is a magical and special night that they want to support.
