Event Description

Not just lipstick on a pig! Or why good design is good for business and more than just surface gloss.

What, or who, immediately springs to mind when someone mentions design? Maybe it’s a global brand or a famous international designer. But how does design affect everyday life and how important is design to your business?

Business owners are consumers too and we all come into contact with design on a daily basis, often being unaware of how it affects us. Being more aware will help you to improve how you use design in your own business.

Key points you will take away from this talk include:

- the importance of understanding the difference between “brand” and “branding”
- why design for business is about far more than just a logo
- how thinking like a designer can be employed by anyone to give you a deeper understanding of your business, your customers and your relationship with both.

About the speaker:
This workshop will be presented by Marian de Kretser, a partner at FdK Design Consultants whose studio is based in the Surrey Technology Centre on Surrey Research Park.

FdK Design Consultants have been in business for nearly 30 years and they are graphic designers, meaning they do everything from simple pop-up banners, to full corporate design projects, really smart websites and even ‘user interface’ projects: online systems that have to work really slickly.

They’ve been around a while and know what they do best … they won’t ever take on a project where they can’t add proper value. And they really love to collaborate with clients, working literally side by side to get the best possible result.

Venue – All our events now take place at Harbour Hotel, 3 Alexandra Terrace, High Street, Guildford, GU1 3DA.

Schedule – The talk starts at 10am but why not join us for breakfast/coffee from 9am and get to meet some of our other members? After the talk we have Q&A and discussion and then the morning concludes by noon. We guarantee you will grow your network, learn up to date business skills and have at least one take away that you can action in your business straight away.
