EWIB Evening at the Riverhouse Barn

Come along to EWIB’s April’s event, being held on Tuesday 23rd April, to hear guest speaker, Gemma Aston, inspire us with the joys and challenges of major career changes as she talks about Taking the Plunge!

After two years as director of the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre in Walton-on-Thames, Gemma Aston is planning to leave her job in the summer and move to the country with her family in order to search out the next new adventure. Is she mad to be leaving such a fantastically exciting and stimulating job, one that she had dreamed of for years? Quite possibly!

Gemma will be speaking about her eclectic career to date and the fear and excitement of stepping into the great unknown. There have been many challenges in recent years and many difficult choices made. Prepare to be inspired as Gemma talks about her motivation, how she overcame some of those challenges, what resources she needed to draw on as well as giving an insight into managing a busy arts venue.

The Riverhouse is a community arts centre with a force of approximately 80 volunteers. With the support of private funding, commercial sponsorship and invaluable community labour, the converted 18th century barn now provides the performance space for music, drama and dance. The gallery is regularly used for exhibitions and the studio offers a creative area for all kinds of craft classes.

COST: The meeting fee is £15, which includes a buffet supper.  There are no limits on who can attend or how often they can come.

Plenty of on-street parking, as well as car park. To enter the venue, walk around to the car park and enter the courtyard. Enter the glass part of the building and you will see the door into the barn on your right - or left, if you use the street entrance.
