Things you should consider before planning your Spring clean!

With the weather picking up – Spring will be upon us sooner than you think!

There comes a time in a busy household, especially where there are lots of kids, when we have to put our foot down and declare an ‘all out’ crusade against dust and grime. Plus, if there are pets running lose too – then the need for a spring clean is even greater!

Imagine putting freshly laundered tablecloths and seat covers on, only then to discover that messy hands have left stains on them.  Or what about a newly laid carpet or cleaned rug, that ends up covered with paw prints and animal hairs within a day or two?

It can’t be denied that it’s not easy keeping a home clean and tidy, especially a busy one at that.  So there may come a time when you need to call in professional cleaners to help you.

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to have cleaners come in and out of their houses regularly to keep their home spic and span.  Also, with work, school runs and other activities, maintaining a clean and tidy home can end up last on our ‘to do’ lists.

This is why planning a regular quarterly or annual clean is a smart choice for homeowners. But, how often should we have our home taken care of by cleaning professionals?

Two important areas and items around your house that need proper and professional attention so that when spring arrives, cleaning will be a whole lot easier are detailed below:

The Carpet

Carpets are one of the main areas where dirt and grime can easily breed dust mites and bacteria that could harm the whole family.  Dust, food crumbs, pet dandruff and every imaginable type of dirt can get stuck within the fine fibres of a carpeted floor.

If we share our house with pets and children, professional cleaners suggest that we have our carpets treated and cleaned at least every 6 to 9 months. Pets can also leave more than just dirt on your carpet.  Our carpets can also host faecal and urine deposits especially if our pet is not house trained.  We can temporarily clean by vacuuming but not all of us have the time to do it that often.

Fans and air filters

Fans and filters in our homes can carry germs and bacteria all over in no time at all. Therefore, having them thoroughly cleaned by professionals is the only thing standing between our family’s health and the next bout of flu!

The type of cleaning required will depend on the type of fan or filter and its frequency of its use, so it is advised to check with a professional cleaner or company who will be able to help on this.  Not only will clean fans and filters make a home’s air clean and fresh but it can also lower energy consumption. – which is always a good thing!
