It's newsmail time again here at Networking in Surrey, as everybody's gearing up for the September "reboot your business" post-holiday blitz, and we all rush around tying up loose ends, tidying the desk, sharpening the pencils and gearing up for winning plenty of new business.
Of course, that usually means dusting off our networking boots, and sallying forth enhusiastically into Networkland to meet lots of new contacts and explore fresh opportunities. If you need some help and guidance in making networking work better for you, I am setting aside some time in my busy diary for 1-2-1 Skype calls where you can pick my brains on putting together an effective networking strategy that really does help you to grow your business.
This service is currently free to NiS Networker plus! Members, and during September I'll be offering a free 15-minute taster session to the first 7 people only to e-mail me on keith@networkinginsurrey.co.uk (strictly first-come, first-served).
Another way to give your business a boost is to take an ad on Networking in Surrey (details here on the site). I still have two slots available for September, so I'm offering them at the heavily discounted rate of just £45 for a month or £130 for three months. Your ad appears on every page of the site and is viewed over 12,000 times by our Members (now more than 1000) and site visitors – we typically get 1700 unique visitors every month. Once again, it's first-come first-served, so please call me on 01932 845814 or e-mail keith@networkinginsurrey.co.uk.
Tomorrow’s NiS Friday Bulletin will have brief news of what's on locally in the coming week, and a reminder to book yourself in for some of the upcoming Autumn "spectaculars" – expos, conferences and internetworking events.
Diary of a Networker...
Since my last newsmail three weeks ago, I've been having a fantastic time out there networking, as always. The many highlights have included two great presentations, from Adam Stevens on using online forums at Hoebridge Golf Club, the new venue for Woking 4Networking, and from the ever-wonderful Veronica Pullen on Social Networking, at the Abbey Business Centre in Redhill.
Speaking of all things online, I went to a free Google 'Juice Bar' session in Esher – if you get a chance to go to one, it's well worth it, because you get the undivided attention of a Google expert for half an hour to help answer your questions about SEO, Google Apps, Gmail, Analytics and all the other great free Google stuff!
I ran a free NiS+ Webinar with Sian Grinter and Yvonne Roberts on ‘Five Life or Death Questions you need to ask your accountant (and the Answers!)’ Have a listen to the recording here. Sorry it's a bit 'hissy' and it drops out briefly at a couple of points - that's 'tech' for you! - but the content is brilliant, especially for start-ups, so worth bearing with it!
I was at the Surrey Business Club 'pub grub' networking evening with Ian Hamilton and Deryck Svensson, and the following morning went to Business Biscotti in Walton on Thames catching up with Sonia Duggan, Emily Guest, Lisa Parkes and Maurice Watts. I enjoyed the convivial Trafford Elmbridge Premier dinner at Woodlands Park with David Denovan-Smith and Alan Orchard, and the following afternoon I ran my two Workshops in Cobham on Networking Skills and Google Places attended by Stuart Ritchie, Elaine Luck and Ian Hamilton, among others. I'll be running them both again shortly...
The Fabulous Women late breakfast at Oxshott was a very lively and well attended affair, with presentations by local MP Dominic Raab (anybody else think he's a dead ringer for a young Rik Mayall?) and Gill Buchanan of the wonderfully named Hens Dancing, the sociable network for women. Also present were Julia Britten, Leonie Wright,Shelley van Lit (with her new bonkbuster novel to rival Fifty Shades of Grey – she's just become a grandmother too!), Vee Koppelman, Philippa Pedder, Sheree Lowe, Neil Humphrey (I wasn't the only Marvellous Man there!),Kirsten Brown, and of course the ab fab Paullette Schwartz herself (apols to any NiS Members I forgot to mention!)
Yesterday I was dodging the raindrops and enjoying a round of golf at the combined Networking4Golfers and Best of Richmond afternoon at Strawberry Hill Golf Club organised by Dan Smale and Nick Taimitarha. I went round with Max Wright and a certain Mark Stevens, who ran off with the first prize like a true bandit.
Happy networking!
PS Remember, you can win a bottle of champagne if you refer the most people to join Networking in Surrey (for free) during September – please don't let Shân Hughes win it for the second time in a row :0)
