JUST WHERE ARE ALL THESE OUT OF WORK TEENAGERS?!...
I am absolutely amazed by the constant reference in the media to the lack of jobs available for young people when we have lots of employers on our books who are actively looking for young apprentices and can't find them!
We are a Surrey-based training agency and as part of our work with the Skills Funding Agency and Apprenticeship Service we place, assess and qualify young apprentices.
We have companies and sole traders coming forward, eager to take on young people and train them for a new career and we are having problems finding young people to place in these posts…. It seems absolutely ridiculous!
YOUNG PEOPLE OF SURREY AND BORDERING COUNTIES... WE HAVE JOBS FOR YOU...NOW!!..
You can start before Christmas, get a national qualification and between £98 - £350 per week or sometimes more. The best case scenario is that you will end up with a full-time permanent job…. the worse case scenario is that you will have a year’s experience, a national qualification, a year’s pay and a great reference.

Can NiS Members please help me find some teenagers that want to work and have a good career with a local company?
Contact me at Weir Training if you spot an out of work teenager who wants a job. valerie@weirtraining.co.uk 01932 567626
Just a thought, I expect NiS Members will help, but could you not approach schools careers office, or the perhaps the Job Centre or an advert in the local paper? Out of 200 plus GCSE students at my daughters school I would say 90% have gone on to study 'A' Level
Hi David all your suggestions sound good but there are no schools careers officers anymore in most schools. I contacted every school in our catchment area when the last school leavers left and only 1 school took up my offer of going to see teachers, groups and to speak at careers evenings. We have good relations with some job centres and are advertising through Jobcentre plus and we are trying to advertise through the paper but we have to pay for this (no funding at present for advertising) or we have to try and get a feature, whcih we are doing.
What is your catchment area? I will ask my daughter who the best person to speak with is and let you know.
Hello David our catchment area is roughly 30 miles around Chertsey but we go out as far as Reading and to other locations depending on where our Assessors are available.
Hi Val, my daughter attends St John the Baptist in Woking, the person you need to contact is Mrs Risman, the phone number for the school is 01483 729343. Good luck
Thanks very much David
