I was running a stall for Homestart Elmbridge and even though the weather was so bad, I made £200.
Lots of items were kindly donated by Forsyth Business Centre, along with donations from local shops in Walton. Forsyth also helped provide volunteers on the day.
Although we had heavy rain and strong winds in the morning we kept our spirits up and carried on, later in the day the weather improved and after holding our marquee up all morning on and off in the wind and suffering from broken poles and rips in the marquee, the sun came out and we laughed it off!
Lovely people were still buying tickets and having a go on our tombola even in the pouring rain - it really was quite incredible! The bands were fantastic, talented musicians from across the borough came together for the second annual music festival.
Sam Thompson, project manager for the RC Sherriff Trust, who funded the day, said everyone was in great spirits despite the weather. The trust is an independant charitable trust that aims to develop the arts in Elmbridge.
The Low Barnets played, a band from Hersham, mainly from Esher High School. They were superb! When the Loveday Singers came on stage it rained so heavily but they just carried on singing songs from James Bond movies.
The High Barnets played an amazing set in the afternoon and we all danced in our marquees whilst working on our tombola! Trish Gant who also helped with volunteering on the day has some fantastic photos on her page of the day.
The Guildford-based ACM gospel choir were brilliant in their finale. The choir invited students from all over the area, including Rydens school, Walton & Esher College, to sing three songs.
The tea tent was great fun, they played acoustic music throughout the day and kept everyone stocked up with tea and cakes. The tea tent was managed by Lindsay Jobling who said it was a fantastic day everyone just carried on and tried their best in the awful weather and the music on the day was Awesome.
I'm looking forward to next year already - hopefully in the sun!
