Taylor was presenting to us about ‘Health & Fitness in the Workplace’

 

So, A bit of Science for your information…

  • The average person burns 700 calories during their 8 hour work day

  • You burn 4 times the Calories standing rather than sitting

  • The more muscle you have, the more efficient your body is at burning fat - the larger the engine, the more fuel you will burn, Lamborghinis don’t stay in the garage

  • Muscle is high maintenance.  It’s like a newborn baby, It must be nurtured

  • You will burn more calories at rest if you have more muscle

  • Sleep better - body in recovery

  • Endorphins from exercise - boosts energy and improves your mood

 

The Right way to lead a Healthy, Happy Lifestyle…

  • Clean Eating

  • ‘Proper Hydration

  • Reduced Fats & Sugar

  • Reduced Alcohol intake where possible

  • Reduced Stress levels - easier said than done!

  • Train SMART not HARD - Know your stuff

 

How to do it…

  • ‘Fail to prepare, prepare to fail’

  • Know what you need to eat

  • Get the right advice

  • Listen to your bod

  • Prioritise your life - this is a lifestyle, not a chore

 

What to Eat…

  • Lean Protein, Omega 3 & eggs

  • Reduce intake of dairy.  Eat cheese in very small amounts

  • Eat your GREENS

  • Eat fruits, but don’t overdo them. 1-2 servings a day

  • Don’t fear FAT

  • Time your higher content carbohydrate meals

  • Fish oil

  • Plan your meals and snacks ahead of time

  • Do not drink your calories

  • Don’t diet or starve!!!

 

So, Do your Research…

  • No one knows everything but everyone knows something

  • Read, Listen, Watch

  • Know the basics

  • Get the RIGHT Advice

 

What you do in the Workplace?

  • Replace your chair

  • Company outings

  • Bring your meal to work, don’t buy it

  • Can you stand up on the phone?

  • Sit up straight

  • Keep water near by

  • Snacks
