Managing the business itself takes time, but a little forethought and planning
will make a big difference.
Invoice customers promptly.
Manage the cashflow - it is not a good idea to give customers extended
credit without agreement.
Set up a business account so that you can keep track of all the
financial activity.
Have a separate account for tax provision. Each month transfer 25% of all
income to this account. This will then cover your tax bill at a
later date.
Keep records of expenses and have a file for receipts.
Allow time for doing the paperwork. If you aren’t good at this, find
someone to help. Half day once a month can help keep things in good
order.
Work out how much to invest in advertising and investigate which are good
value.
When you go on holiday get someone in to deal with any customer
enquiries.
When you have peak periods of work, get in interim help so that you can
manage the workload more efficiently.
Professional planner and organiser available to help individuals on an interim basis.
Free consultation.
