Ecademy Croydon meeting report - Sept 2011

Last Thursday was the first Croydon Ecademy group meeting since the summer break and Huw Williams managed to persuade me to take over organising them!

The group met, some for the first time, and there was a great buzz over the buffet food and bar drinks, followed by an interesting, inspirational and useful talk by Martin Dilworth.

Martin's talk 'Shape Up Your Business' was a story of turning his personal training into a business with a substantial turnover, Dynamo Boxing, that is still growing. What we gained was really useful insights of how he qualifies his leads and makes sure his clients are ONLY those who really want to work with him. His format for fitness, health and wellbeing and processes for that translate into business strategies that would benefit us with ours.

From looking at our own client/business qualification criteria, assessing statistics, attention to detail through to the desire to succeed, measuring success and looking at our systems, this was a fantastic and useful talk.

Our next meeting is Thurs, 20th October with an action-orientated workshop with coach, Jennifer Neville "Step Back & See Where You're Going With Your Business" that will help you take action to improve!

Hi,

I've taken up organising Ecademy Croydon Group from Huw Williams of Net Strategics, who has been running the group since it started in 2003!

Why? Well, because he asked me, more than once! Also because I've found it such a useful way to connect and learn with and from other local business people and want to encourage more people to join us and benefit from this too. 

I'm due to have my second baby shortly and want to keep up to date within the local business community, and continue learning so I can also continue grow my business even though I won't actually be working. Learning, for me, is key and at Ecademy Croydon I've learn't something new every time from the speaker/presenter that has helped me with my business, so why not try it for yourself?

It's very informal with people arriving up to about 7pm, chatting over the buffet food, then either a speaker shares some knowledge with us or we have a workshop, and after we can stay and network some more - the bar is open until 9pm.
