I've been on LinkedIn Since 2007 (and teaching professionals to use it since 2016...)
And here's what 18 years taught me that most people STILL don't understand:
The platform has radically transformed many times - but the businesses that thrive there have been using the SAME strategy through every change.
A static profile. A place to list your job history. Connection requests with zero context. Geared to jobseekers and recruiters (wher the money was - and still is@!)
Here's the truth: If your LinkedIn strategy is "keep your profile updated," you're stuck in 2007. That mindset is dead.
LinkedIn aspires to becoming a business publishing platform. Status updates. Company pages that actually mattered.
This wasn't about broadcasting - it was about starting conversations (aka networking!).
