Event Description

How will GDPR affect your business?

Surrey Chambers of Commerce brings you critical information!

Surrey Chambers of Commerce has presented a number of events to ensure that businesses are well aware of the impact of the new Data Protection Regulations coming out in May 2018 (known as GDPR)
This is not a one-off event as we will continue to keep you informed via our many communication tools.

A lot of questions still need to be answered by the government before we are completely clear but the purpose of this event is to bring you up to speed as at today.

To help us do this we have created an excellent panel who will be bringing their particular perspective on GDPR;

Linda Bazant, legal expert, has been liaising with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) for the latest information and will give us a quick overview
Dan May, Director at ramsac, who provide IT Solutions, will cover how you can prepare your technology to cope with GDPR requirements
Sam Farrow, Farrow Creative, will talk about the impact on Marketing companies and marketing activities
Nicky Forsyth, breatheHR, will identify the areas within HR processes which need to be adapted for the new GDPR requirements

All four will share their latest information and welcome questions from the floor.

Molly Edwards, Marketing and Events executive at Surrey Chambers of Commerce, will facilitate the morning and we will take away any unanswered questions to feedback on.

What is GDPR?
From 25th May 2018 individuals will have the right to have their personal data erased, otherwise known as the right to be forgotten, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation - GDPR.•What does this mean for business?

•In what circumstances will that right apply?
•Will there be legitimate reasons not to comply?
•What if explicit consent to process the data has been given?
•Should third party organisations be informed of the deletion?

Currently, the maximum fines being issued by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) are £500,000. On 25th May 2018, this will increase to a maximum of £18 million or 4% of your global annual turnover.

Personal data is one of your businesses most valuable assets. Your database is your lifeline to the success of your business and the key to ongoing profitability.

Getting this right protects the reputation of your business; avoids punitive fines; engenders trust and ensures that you don’t lose out to your competition.
