Eating Right for Health & Wellbeing at The Ship

Do you make it your business to eat right?

Leonie Wright, our former Chairwoman, is our speaker in May, and will inspire us to eat more healthily.

As multi-tasking business women, our own health can sometimes be relegated to the bottom of the list. 

Eating a well balanced healthy diet can cure 95% of type 2 diabetes, lower your blood pressure and cholesterol level, help you to sleep better, stop snoring, and improve arthritis. It is better for your heart and arteries and has many more physical benefits as well as mental and emotional advantages. You will feel fitter and have more energy to run your business; it will even help you to stay awake in the afternoon!

We have all seen products promising food that is healthy for us, a drop in dress size in two weeks, helping to lower cholesterol level or blood pressure, and products that are beneficial to the gut etc. But  should we believe all those packaging claims?

• Is it better to buy low fat yoghurt or full fat?
• Is it better to have orange juice or an orange?
• Is it better to have a normal Coke or a Diet/Coke Zero?
• Is it better to eat low fat spread or real butter?

In our hectic lifestyles we rarely have time to study the packaging closely.  For those using home delivery it’s even harder; we are usually buying the same stuff week in week out. We may also be tempted by ready meals as they appear appetising and don’t require any preparation at home.

Seven years ago, Leonie came across a healthy eating programme in her native Holland. She and her husband experienced considerable health improvements.

To enable her to launch her EatWright programme in the UK, she followed a course in Nutritional Awareness, trained in Holland as a coach, attended educational workshops and seminars and read many more books on the subject. She is currently writing a recipe book.

COST: The meeting fee is £15, which includes a buffet supper.  There are no limits on who can attend or how often they can come.
