Good to chat this morning at the Kingston Expo Speednetworking!
Thanks for joining us, and welcome to the Networking in Surrey community. I hope you find the site useful for planning your networking.
Now that your profile is live, it would be great if you could take a moment to post your photo in place of the 'anonymous silhouette' provided by the software within 48 hours please!
If I may make a suggestion, I strongly recommend you use a photo of yourself rather than a logo on your My Page profile. As you can see, almost every Member of NiS who has something other than the silhouette has used a head shot.
It's important to display your mugshot online because cyberspace is 'inhuman'. At a networking meeting you can smile, share a joke, look people in the eye, shake their hand. Online, you're invisible, intangible and impersonal.
Posting your picture lets people identify you when they meet you face-to-face at a networking event having seen your cheery mush online - or recognise you online as somebody they've met in person.
For more of my reasoning on this, please take a look at an old blog post I made here on NiS. Also, if you post a photo I can put you in the Member grid on the Home Page for your fifteen minutes of fame!
