Today I attended my first networking (Fabulous Women's group in Weybridge) to be honest I didn't know what to expect or how i would fit in?
But I really enjoyed my time there and all the people who attended are lovely. I am not a great speaker when standing up in front of people, but I did OK (got a little tongue tied) but I didn't feel awkward.…

Hi Jordan
If I may make a suggestion, I strongly recommend you use a photo of yourself rather than a corporate image on your My Page profile. As you can see, almost every Member of NiS who has something other than the silhouette has used a head shot.
It's important to display your mugshot online because cyberspace is 'inhuman'. At a networking meeting you can smile, share a joke, look people in the eye, shake their hand. Online, you're invisible, intangible and impersonal.
Posting your picture lets people identify you when they meet you face-to-face at a networking event having seen your cheery mush online - or recognise you online as somebody they've met in person. This applies to LinkedIn and other social profiles too.
For more of my reasoning on this, please take a look at an old blog post I made here on NiS... Also, if you post a photo I can put you in the Member grid on the Home Page for your fifteen minutes of fame!
Cheers
Keith
Hi Jordan
Thanks for joining us, and welcome to the Networking in Surrey community. I hope you find the site useful for planning your networking.
Now that your profile is live, it would be great if you could take a moment to post your photo in place of the 'anonymous silhouette' provided by the software within 48 hours please!
You also need ot adjust your website address - our software (trying to be helpful) puts in the http bit for you, so it ends up in there twice and the link doesn't work.
Best regards
K
