 tal project, the £1 billion redevelopment of St Bartholomew’s and T
 he Royal London hospitals.  Just as important are its extensive servic
 e-based contracts: upgrading London’s aging gas infrastructure, a we
 alth of facilities maintenance contracts, long-term street lighting pr
 ojects, and landscaping for the London 2012 Olympic Park in Stratford.
 \nBy combining their skills and experience in construction, facilities
  management and infrastructure development, Skanska has become a UK le
 ader in delivering projects in healthcare, education, defence, transpo
 rtation and municipal services, delivered through both private and pub
 lic investment.\nAbout the speaker Katy cemented her industry leading
  role when she became Managing Director for Skanska’s Facilities Ser
 vices business in 2012. Working for Skanska for 10 years Katy has work
 ed in a variety of roles covering operations, business improvement and
  commercial disciplines for a number of divisions within the company.\
 nIn her current role Katy is responsible for several business functio
 ns including strategic planning, sales, bidding, business improvement 
 and asset management. \nA big advocate for women in construction, Kat
 y was voted into the role of chair for the National Association of Wom
 en in Construction (NAWIC), a position she has held for six years. Her
  advice to young women considering a career in construction: “Be you
 rself, develop your skills and be prepared to take opportunities when 
 they come along. Women can sometimes be too cautious, so be brave and 
 take the step.”\nThe Venue. The iconic Guildhall was built over the
  16th and 17th century and is of great historic interest. It was form
 erly a courtroom and Council Chamber. Today the building houses the Ci
