Digital groups hold meetings which focus on all things 'new technology
' and although they tend to attract people who work in digital media,
mobile comms, IT and other tech-related fields, everybody is welcome t
o attend.\nApril's Digital Berkshire sees us return to the home of Dig
ital Berkshire - South Hill Park Arts Centre in Bracknell. \nWe are l
ucky enough to have Chris Clark join us as our speaker for the evening
. Chris Clark is Head of Digital Research and the Digital Curator Team
at The British Library. The position and team were created in 2010 as
part of a general restructuring of operations to support the British
 Library's ten-year strategy, 2020 Vision http://www.bl.uk/aboutus/str
atpolprog/2020vision/index.html Chris has occupied many posts in a ca
reer spanning more than thirty years with the Library, including Jazz
Curator (1980s) and Head of Cataloguing and Public Services for the So
und Archive (1990s).\nHis talk, Digital Engagements, will feature some
of the innovative projects and services that are emerging around a de
eper engagement with Digital as the British Library's strategy unfolds
and how this in turn changes the organisation and how people perceive
it. He will talk about the early positioning and work of the Digital
Curator Team and some of the technologies it seeks to embrace to impro
ve digital affordances and digital literacy, including opportunities f
or crowd-sourcing. He will also mention services that are breaking new
ground for libraries, such as the Business and Intellectual Property
Centre and the Management & Business Studies Portal.\nWe have had a s
neak preview of what Chris will be covering and this is definitely not
an event to be missed! We anticipate lots of demand for tickets, so p
lease get in quick, but only book what you need and do let us know if
you can't make it so that we can release your ticket to someone else.Â
