SUMMARY:FREE DigitalSurrey Evening, Guildford
DESCRIPTION:Euan Semple on Social Media at the Cathedral Refectory\nPl
ease Join us at DigitalSurrey on the 18 October, where we'll be addres
sed by Euan Semple, to discuss the following...\nBusiness As Usual? In
a recent report McKinsey Global Institute predicted social technologi
es unlocking a global $900 billion–$1.3 trillion annually through in
creased sales and greater business effectiveness. The enterprise softw
are industry is thriving with companies investing significant sums of
money in deploying its solutions. And yet ... it all comes down to de
ceptively simple online conversations. People having the courage and
the confidence to post that first tweet, managers having enough trust
to allow staff to become their most powerful online ambassadors, and o
rganisations being able to adapt their corporate culture to the fast c
hanging expectations of the networked world.   About Euan (@euan) Ten
years ago, while working in a senior position at the BBC, Euan Semple
was one of the first to introduce what have since become known as soc
ial media tools into a large, successful organisation. He has subseque
ntly had six years of unparalleled experience working with organisatio
ns such as Nokia, The World Bank and NATO. This world is changing fast
, but he makes sense of it because he understands that the core basics
remain the same: community, learning, interaction. He is a story-tell
er who offers a host of practical tales about how this new world can w
ork for real people in the real world. The event will be held at Guil
dford Refectory, with sponsorship from theblueballroom.\nCOST: FREE to
